CODE http://www.jbinup.com/en/ http://forum.jbinup.com/ Hi VDOWN Collegiates, JBinUp is a java based Usenet Newsgroup uploader that is SSL enabled. I find it a lot more convenient to use that Yenc PowerPost combined with Stunnel. I've noticed the following in the JbinUp log-files: CODE 19.02.2010 12:58:21: Establishing non encrypted connection #6 to server Astraweb SSL - EU. 19.02.2010 12:58:20: Establishing non encrypted connection #5 to server Astraweb SSL - EU. 19.02.2010 12:58:18: Establishing non encrypted connection #4 to server Astraweb SSL - EU. 19.02.2010 12:58:16: Establishing non encrypted connection #3 to server Astraweb SSL - EU. 19.02.2010 12:58:15: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #2 to server Astraweb SSL - EU. Certificate was issued for domain eu.secure.news.astraweb.com, CN=*.astraweb.com, OU=Domain Control Validated, O=*.astraweb.com by certificate authority SERIALNUMBER=07969287, CN=Go Daddy Secure Certification Authority, OU=http://certificates.godaddy.com/repository, O="GoDaddy.com, Inc.", L=Scottsdale, ST=Arizona, C=US. 19.02.2010 12:58:15: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #1 to server Astraweb SSL - EU. Certificate was issued for domain eu.secure.news.astraweb.com, CN=*.astraweb.com, OU=Domain Control Validated, O=*.astraweb.com by certificate authority SERIALNUMBER=07969287, CN=Go Daddy Secure Certification Authority, OU=http://certificates.godaddy.com/repository, O="GoDaddy.com, Inc.", L=Scottsdale, ST=Arizona, C=US. 19.02.2010 12:54:10: No speed limit configured in JBinUp. The number of connections for the server in the settings is defined to be 6. I have a SSL enabled subscription with the newshost "Astraweb" As can be observed, connections #1 and #2 are "SSL enabled" but #3 to #6 are logged as not SSL enabled. For anyone familiar with the program, is that to be interpreted literally, or is the establishment of one SSL connection, imply, regardless of logged messages that all connections are SSL enabled? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/g.gif) Or is there an apparent bug with JBinUp? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatingbullets.gif) The JBinUp support forum seems German based, so I thought I'd enquire in the Technology forum first, thankyou. Hi Core Share,
I've just tested "JBinUp 0.90 Beta 8 - Build: 738" application and here are my results which appear to be good, CODE 10.03.2010 22:45:15: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #6 to server astraweb. 10.03.2010 22:45:12: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #5 to server astraweb. 10.03.2010 22:45:11: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #4 to server astraweb. 10.03.2010 22:45:09: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #3 to server astraweb. 10.03.2010 22:45:07: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #2 to server astraweb. 10.03.2010 22:45:06: Establishing SSL encrypted connection #1 to server astraweb. Certificate was issued for domain ssl.astraweb.com, CN=*.astraweb.com, OU=Domain Control Validated, O=*.astraweb.com by certificate authority SERIALNUMBER=07969287, CN=Go Daddy Secure Certification Authority, OU=http://certificates.godaddy.com/repository, O="GoDaddy.com, Inc.", L=Scottsdale, ST=Arizona, C=US. Are you using the default SSL 563 port? Are you using the same build? |

Hi GreatGuru,
I was using JBinUp 0.90 Beta 8 Build 729, on the default SSL port of 563, and I was using the EU rather than the US SSL secure AstraWeb server. I've just updated to build 738 and will test the EU and US servers, thanks. |

Well, 0.90 Beta 8 Build 738 is behaving as it should, all connections SSL tunnelled. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif)
Alas, 0.90 Beta 8 Build 729 was at fault. Not all Beta 8's are the same... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sweatingbullets.gif) So there's been quite a few uploads with less than immaculate security, the Imperial Stormtroopers may come through my ceiling, or they may not. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tooth.gif) Thanks for your help Great Guru. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/v.gif) |
