Adobe Digital Camera Raw v3.1.0.17

The camera raw functionality in Adobe Photoshop software provides fast and easy access within Photoshop to the "raw" image formats produced by many leading professional and midrange digital cameras. By working with these "digital negatives," you can achieve the results you want with greater artistic control and flexibility while still maintaining the original "raw" files.

The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in became the latest must-have tool for professional photographers when it was released in February 2003. This powerful plug-in has been updated to support more cameras and include more features, and is available as part of Adobe Photoshop CS2. With Photoshop CS2 you get not only the latest camera raw plug-in, but also the full range of exciting new features that are part of this release.

Adobe DNG Converter
The Adobe DNG Converter, a free utility that converts files from more than 75 cameras to Digital Negative (DNG), enables you to easily convert camera-specific raw files to a more universal DNG raw file.

Note: you should either replace the existing Camera Raw plug-in or move it to a different location (such as the desktopm) and put in the new Camera Raw 3.1 plug-in. Also note that neither Adobe Bridge nor Photoshop CS2 should be running when you do this. Both Bridge and Photoshop need to be relaunched to register the new plug-in during application start up.

For the DNG Converter:
There is no installer for the DNG Converter. Double-click the DNG Converter icon to launch the application.

Adobe has today posted the Adobe Camera RAW 3.3 Beta plug-in for Photoshop CS2 (ACR). This RAW converter / importer is well respected and has become the standard for many photographers. Version 3.3 Beta adds support for several new camera models including the Canon EOS 5D, EOS-1Ds Mark II, Olympus E-500, Pentax *ist DL & DS2 and the Sony CyberShot DSC-R1. There are also several improvements including newly tuned demosaic algorithms, improved redraw speed and "legacy" IPTC support. Note that the converter is still considered to be in 'Beta' form.

This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe® Photoshop® CS2 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and 4.0 software. Visit the camera raw support page for a complete list of supported cameras. Find out more about the new DNG format, which is also supported in Camera Raw.
